The spokeswoman for Sí Podemos Canarias in the Cabildo de Tenerife, María José Belda, has expressed her political group’s rejection of “the crazy tourism project with which they once again intend to destroy Puertito de Adeje, located in an enclave near the Protected Natural Area of Caleta de Adeje, considered a Site of Scientific Interest”.
Belda has affirmed that “it is enough that they want to continue with urban development balls to enrich the private pockets of foreign investment companies that benefit from land reclassification, at the cost of destroying one of the last natural redoubts that we still enjoy in the south of the island.
The island councilor of Sí Podemos Canarias has announced that she will present a question in the next Plenary Commission of the Presidency of the Cabildo “to find out what the political position of the government group is regarding this new project, called Cradle of the Soulwith which they reaffirm their commitment to continue with unsustainable policies and depredation of the territory”.
In this sense, Belda has denounced the presence of the government team during the presentation of this tourism project, since “it shows the seams of the PSOE, who is in evidence by trying to show himself publicly as an insular government that watches over taking care of the territory, and then he poses in the photo with those who are in charge of carrying out environmental attacks that eliminate the landscapes that make us a unique land”.
The spokeswoman for the insular group reiterates her group’s complaint regarding the usual practice of traditional political parties “of continuing to reclassify land to favor that urban development balls can be carried out, using the greenwhasing when subsequently presenting this type of project to the public to camouflage them as plans that value the territory and respect the environment”.
María José Belda has shown her support for the protests of the different environmental groups that have spoken out against this project -Salvar La Tejita, ATAN, the Telesforo Bravo-Juan Coello Foundation and the Forum Against Incineration-, and joins the call made by ATAN and Salvar La Tejita “to convene a Citizen Assembly next Saturday, May 14, on the beach of Puertito de Adeje, at 5:30 p.m., as a sign of the refusal of the population of Tenerife to carry out this work with which they intend to continue depredating down to the last centimeter of soil in the south”.
