The stage, designed by Carlos Santos Cabrera, will have an area of more than 2,100 square metres, with a covered space under a 14×31 meter technical ceiling and an uncovered area in front of approximately 13×60 metres, to which are added 160 meters squares of led screen, explains the City Council.
Santos explains that it responds to an approach from a television and technological point of view, where the main focus is on enhancing the figures and colors of the fantasies that are presented in it, “fleeing from iconography and elements that we can associate with allegory” .
Unlike other years, he details, the layout of the stage together with the stands and the stalls will be across the width of the Fairgrounds.
The rental contract for the installation, which is owned by the Cabildo de Tenerife, amounts to 483,389.15 euros for the month and a half that will be occupied by the carnival acts.
The Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, highlights “the economic effort” for the rental of the venue and recalls that at the time “other options” were studied, but alternatives to an outdoor setting had to be sought “before the refusal of the president of the Port Authority to cede port land to us”.
Cabello also indicates that the format chosen for the stage allows for a different one in each contest and in each gala, because it can be modulated in a wide variety of colors and also has no anchors.
Carnival 2022 will begin its events on Friday, June 3, with the draw for the order of participation of the queen candidates to be held at the fairgrounds.
