The delegated area of Foreign Action of the Cabildo and the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Chamber of Commerce are preparing a trade mission to Portugal in the second half of the year to promote business opportunities with the Portuguese country. This was revealed during the conference on business opportunities with Portugal, organized by the Portuguese Consulate in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the support of the Cabildo de Tenerife and the Chamber, and the collaboration of La Caixa.
The event featured speeches by the Councilor for Foreign Action of the Cabildo, Liskel Álvarez; the vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Commerce, Arturo Escuder; the territorial director of Commerce, Pilar Merino; and the managing director of the public company of the Canarian Government Proexca, Dácil Domínguez, who announced the different lines of business that Portugal offers to companies. The meeting was aimed at companies from Tenerife interested in finding out about the options in the Portuguese market. “In order to continue strengthening trade relations between the two territories, this trade mission will be carried out in order to help the island’s companies sell their products in the Portuguese market and promote business between commercial suppliers,” said CEO Liskel Álvarez. .
Luis Moura, director of the Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal (AICEP) for Spain, indicated that trade relations between the two countries have not stopped growing in recent years since, according to what he said, there are more than 5,500 companies Canarian companies that acquire some product from this commercial partner, while 255 Canarian companies export to the Portuguese neighbor. According to data provided by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Chamber of Commerce, Canarian exports to Portugal have increased by 251% in the first two months of the year, going from almost 5 million euros to 17.5 million.
