The Canary Islands Denomination of Origin launches the course “Introduction to Canary Wine”

The Designation of Origin Canary Islands launches next June, a new training action aimed at all those wine lovers who want to know and get closer to the attractive world of Canary Wine and the production philosophy of the wineries that comprise it.

The Designation of Origin Canary Islands – Canary Wine in its clear and determined commitment to the wine sector in its continuous training and with the aim of bringing the general public closer to the knowledge of the history, culture and wine project of the Canary Islands, starting next month it will develop this course of “Intro to Canary Wine” within your newly created training program «About Canary Wine».

The common thread of this training activity will be the book recently published by the PDO Islas Canarias and bearing the same name: “About Canary Wine” (“About Canary Wine”, in its English version). This work compiles and jointly presents all the relevant and necessary aspects to explain and understand the uniqueness of Canary Wine, dealing with aspects such as the geological origin of our soils, climate and topography, as well as the different varieties, history, typologies of wines, cultivation techniques and heritage, current situation of the sector and sustainable cultural landscape.

This training activity has a list of teachers of the highest level such as on the island of Tenerife, Miguel Febles (Geographer, specialized in Territorial Planning and Environmental Assessment) and Juan Enrique Luis Bravo (oenologist) and on the island of Gran Canaria, Valerio Hidalgo (winemaker).

The course will last 4 hours, including a theoretical part and a practical part in the form of a tasting with different varietal elaborations from different islands, and in a first phase it will take place on the islands of Tenerife and Gran Canaria to later move to other islands. and peninsula.

The dates and places currently confirmed are May 23, Hotel Escuela Santa Brígida; June 2, Tenerife Wine House; June 6, La Kasa de Guía; June 13, Las Palmas Inn School; June 16, Santa Cruz School Hotel; June 30, DOP Islas Canarias headquarters and July 18, Ashotel – FIT de Adeje.
