The CC-PNC group in the Cabildo de Tenerife calls it an “ecological attack” that “half of the plastic containers that are being taken to the Tenerife Environmental Complex are not recovered” and warns that Ecoembes has opened a file with the Cabildo for this circumstance. The nationalist counselor Blanca Pérez points out through a statement that the management that the PSOE is doing with waste in Tenerife is “intolerable.”
“Why such an awareness campaign for the population if they don’t recover properly afterwards?” Blanca Pérez asks. «They ask people to separate the plastics and put them in the yellow container and it turns out that later, due to its inefficiency, half is thrown into the landfill and they are not recovered. And besides, that costs us more money. The value of the containers that were thrown away in 2021 is approximately 889,000 euros. Pérez explains that the situation is “very serious”, to the point that Ecoembes “has opened a file with the Cabildo” because “the level of recovery in the packaging plant does not reach the minimum required.” “The plant was automated and it works worse than before. The recovery performance is very low and is around 50-60% when it is normal for it to be between 85-90%”, specified the counselor.
The nationalist points out that “the PSOE is wasting money.” «They built a plant in the Environmental Complex of Tenerife at a cost of 2.8 million euros when the Special Territorial Plan for Waste Management (PTEOR) included the implementation of that plant in the metropolitan area at no cost to the Cabildo. Why? What does that decision respond to? », She questions. Likewise, she assures that “the mismanagement of the PSOE” in the packaging automation plant of the Environmental Complex of Tenerife “has led to a loss of 1.7 million.” «They have had direct losses worth half a million, to which must be added the containers thrown into the landfill, which are almost 900,000 euros, plus the rental of the engine and fuel. That money belongs to everyone and has been spent in vain because the plant works worse. We demand responsibilities », she concluded.
