SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 10 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, stated that the Canarian Coalition should congratulate the Government of the Flores Pact for having completed the recovery of the 1,000 million euros from the road agreement, “as a result of the breach of the agreement by the Government of Spain from 2012”.
This was stated in the control session with the Government, in response to questions from deputy Pablo Rodríguez (CC-PNC) and deputy Nira Fierro (PSOE) about the arrival in the Canary Islands of the funds derived from the Supreme Court rulings regarding the road agreement.
Pablo Rodríguez lamented that the agreement on the highway agreement has not yet been published in any official bulletin, despite the fact that President Torres has announced it “with fanfare and joy.” Likewise, he stressed that this has been achieved because there are three “firm” sentences of the Supreme Court by a government presided over by the Canarian Coalition and with a Public Works councilor also from CC.
Ángel Víctor Torres pointed out that this agreement will materialize in this legislature and reiterated that a “historic problem” that dates back to 2012 is thus resolved. He also detailed that of the almost 1,000 million of the agreement, 100 million arrived in 2021, 200 million will arrive in 2022 and 238 in 2023, to which must be added the 407 million that will be included in an addendum of the mixed commission for monitoring the highway agreement, which “was never managed to be introduced before”.
“You will congratulate the Government of the Canary Islands because this will be signed as soon as possible,” said Torres, addressing Pablo Rodríguez.
For her part, Nira Fierro highlighted the importance of this agreement, which shows that dialogue and will make it the “most beneficial and most intelligent” position for the Canary Islands.
