The CC-PNC group of the Cabildo de Tenerife asks that 5 million euros be allocated to the comprehensive care program for people in severe poverty and social exclusion in households whose main breadwinners are women with dependent minors. The nationalist spokesman, Carlos Alonso, points out that “the proposal was approved unanimously in plenary, but the reality is that neither the PSOE nor Ciudadanos wanted to put money.” “Words are fine but support must be shown with deeds and what we ask is that the government group allocate at least 5 million. We hope that they rectify and provide the necessary financing », he explained.

Carlos Alonso recalls that “the Cabildo has a remainder of 126 million euros from the year 2021, with which it can contribute that amount and even more” and details that “in the agreement it is established that the Cabildo, together with the city councils of the Isla and in coordination with the program against poverty of the Government of the Canary Islands, will launch a comprehensive care program for people in severe poverty and exclusion, prioritizing households whose main breadwinner is a woman with dependent minors. Alonso indicates that “the program must address the comprehensiveness of the situations that affect the risk of exclusion, with full coordination and transversality of care and attention resources.” «For this, it is necessary to have powerful financing, which should also be expanded with additional resources destined, where appropriate, to improve employability, education and school re-education, to improve housing conditions, to prevention of violence, attention to dependency situations and attention to other psychosocial factors that affect exclusion”, he specifies. The CC-PNC spokesperson also explains that the program for attention to poverty “must be reinforced by measures to support conciliation that make it easier for women to progress within the program.”
