Since 2020, the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has had the corresponding project to rehabilitate the pavement and improve the Vía Litoral towards San Andrés and Avenida José Martí, a project submitted to the City Council for its approval and, two years later, still pending response from the corporation.

Specifically, on February 5, 2020, the document drafted by Puertos de Tenerife arrived at the City Council via the entry register, which includes the necessary actions to be carried out by the port body so that these routes, which are also for public use outside the port, are able to be received free of charge by the City Council.

The works that give shape to this project represent an investment of 1.3 million euros and, for this purpose, it should be remembered that the investments made by the port come from the money that the different port operators pay as fees, from shipping companies to terminal operators , going through all kinds of companies based in the port.

Thus, Puertos de Tenerife considers it contradictory that the City Council insists on the repair of the tracks when it has not reported the projects submitted two years ago, an essential requirement for its execution together with the acceptance of the assignment of the tracks at the time of receipt. of the work

However, the Tenerife Port Authority will continue to carry out the necessary repair works to guarantee the safety of these infrastructures, as it has been doing up to now.

It should be remembered that this week the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, precisely agreed to initiate the procedures for the free transfer to the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife of the land occupied by the Miguel Pintor school, sections of the Vía Litoral of access to San Andrés and José Martí Avenue, land already disaffected on the surface of the port public domain.

Through two separate documents dated July 3, 2018 and February 5, 2020, the port authority informed the Capital City Council of its intention to initiate said procedure for the free transfer of these public use routes that are functionally outside the port, an extreme that the corporation has completed. accepting with the request to initiate the file dated February 14, 2022.

Works already done. The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Santa Cruz de Tenerife has been carrying out multiple actions on the Vía Litoral such as the conditioning and landscaping of the same in front of María Jiménez; the protection of the hillside at the height of the La Jurada gas station; the improvement of the measures against the risk of landslides in the sections María Jiménez-Cueva Bermeja and La Altura-Paso Alto and the improvement of the rainwater collection network.
