The Santa Cruz City Council has commissioned the Fundación Canaria General of the University of La Laguna to appraise the sculptures of Auguste Rodin to acquire by the Consistory to form the Rodin Museum in the Viera y Clavijo park.

The contract has been awarded for 13,482 euros, and its execution will last until October this year. This data was made known in the Extraordinary Plenary Session held yesterday in which an additional 19 million were made available to the current budget to face different works and projects, among which are the 932,505 euros that the Consistory has to acquire these works for the future Rodin Museum.

2.2 million are also made available for the purchase of a parking lot on Calle La Rosa, just over five million for asphalting streets, or four million more for the development of playgrounds.

The money earmarked for the purchase of sculptures was one of the reasons why the opposition voted against the file, understanding that there was no urgency to deal with this matter.

The former mayor of Santa Cruz, the socialist Patricia Hernández, pointed out about the Rodin Museum, that “the only urgency I see is to put it inside the lot so that the PP votes in favor, because it has already told them that it does not agree with that expense ”. Hernández also pointed out that thanks to the management of the PSOE in its mandate, “you have this money today, which comes from the surplus of a loan requested in 2020, and from the sale of the building of the Ministry of Education, which they were able to do thanks to the signature of this one that speaks”. The PSOE presented an amendment in voce to dedicate the money from the statues to repairing the Las Delicias soccer field, which was not accepted by the government team.
