The ‘la Caixa’ Foundation and the CajaCanarias Foundation have presented the Canarias 2022 Call in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, an initiative that has promoted more than 350 projects since 2013 with a total investment of 8 million euros.
With a history of more than two decades, the Social Initiative Project Aid Program supports very important work, which the deputy director general of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, Marc Simón, describes as “essential”, by the entities Canarian social groups, who carry out their work on the ground with the most vulnerable groups.
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the 2021 edition, 29 projects were selected with a boost of 670,000 euros. In total, in the Canary Islands aid worth almost 1 million euros was granted to 46 projects that benefited more than 10,000 people. Since the start of the social calls program together with Fundación CajaCanarias in 2013, 380 projects have been promoted with a total investment of 8 million euros. This call is endowed with two million euros, an amount that doubles that of the last edition.
In this call, work will continue with a territorial approach, focusing on the same areas of action as in previous editions, but paying special attention to situations that have worsened as a result of the health emergency due to covid-19, such as projects aimed at to people with mental disorders or disabilities, with projects where personal autonomy is promoted and support is given to activities of daily living, including psychosocial support for people with disabilities or mental disorders, taking into account their family and relational environment . Projects that seek to humanize socio-health care and psychosocial support for people in a situation of illness, in palliative care or at the end of their life to improve their quality of life and that of their families. Social and educational development projects for children and adolescents in vulnerable situations, promoting the social inclusion of people at risk of poverty and exclusion. Psychosocial care projects for people in situations of addiction or violence, especially gender violence, are also included.
