Arona goes to the Bilbao fair to attract tourists from northern Spain

Arona will be present from tomorrow until Sunday at Expovacaciones, a tourism fair that will take place at the Bilbao Exhibition Center. The Municipal Tourist Board will attend with its own stand and as the only destination in Tenerife. After two years of restrictions due to the global pandemic, the main objective is to reinforce the expectations of tourism recovery in the municipality for the summer season. Bilbao brings together unique conditions that make it a market with great potential, such as having direct flights to Tenerife, the highest national income per capita and a fair that receives more than 69,000 people.

Arona is positioned as a safe destination from a health point of view, with the recent award of the European Health Destination seal, in addition to reinforcing its commitments to accessibility and sustainability as a Biosphere destination. Added to these prestigious seals is the renewal, once again, of the Q for quality of the Las Galletas, Playa de Las Américas and Las Vistas tourist information offices, which have also obtained the Safe Tourism Certified seal this year.

Turismo de Arona will not only present itself with its traditional image of a sun and beach destination, which is highly valued in the north of Spain, but will also “emphasize nature tourism”, for which it will highlight its protected areas, its heritage historical and cultural heritage, its trails, its sporting events or its environmental diversity, in addition to its commitment to recently awarded zero kilometer products, such as the municipality’s oil.

The Councilor for Tourism, José Alberto Delgado, underlined “the importance for Arona, as a leader in the tourism sector, of being present at a fair in such a powerful market for our tourist destination as that of northern Spain, which seeks, above all, everything, the privileged climate that we enjoy in Arona». Delgado maintains that “after the success of our proposals at the Madrid International Fair (Fitur), the Bilbao Fair is presented as an opportunity to reinforce the great image of our municipality as a healthy tourist destination, committed to equality, accessibility, sustainability , the environment and our cultural and historical heritage.
