The complaint filed at the time by the former mayor of The lagoon, Jose Alberto Diaz (Canarian Coalition), threatens to end up harming the current municipal group of its political formation in the Lagoon Town Hall, as well as the rest of the opposition of the same, also made up of the Popular Party (PP) and a non-attached councilor who presented himself for the Citizens lists and has turned out to be a turncoat. As this newspaper has been able to confirm through unofficial channels, the current municipal government team, made up of a pact signed between the PSOE, United You Can and Avante La Laguna, is already studying the possibility of suppressing part of the trusted staff made available to the aforementioned municipal opposition groups if this is finally deduced from the judicial process originated as a result of said complaint by Díaz.

It is enough to remember that both the PP and the defecting councilor, Alfredo Gómez, currently enjoy the services of an adviser, respectively, in charge of the lagoon coffers, to get an idea of the possible scope that such a decision would have, which, certainly , does not seem to be to the liking of the current mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez (PSOE), who has spoken publicly on many occasions about the convenience of providing these means to all municipal groups, considering that it is an advance for “the democratization ” of political life in the municipality.

Just yesterday, Avante recalled in a statement that this conflict dates back to the last legislature, “in which José Alberto Díaz and Javier Abreu agreed to deprive the opposition groups of temporary staff, support staff and appointed advice by the Mayor’s Office in compliance with the Organic Regulations of the Corporation”.

This decision of Díaz and Abreu, remembers said party, was appealed by the Councilor for Urbanism Santiago Pérez (PSOE), thus achieving that the current Lagoon Government revoke such cut. “It is true that it was carried out by way of urgency, but it is also true that there was never a previous discussion in the City Council of La Laguna about whether or not an issue that is on the agenda in that way is urgent or not. The urgency is simply voted by majority, it is included and discussed”, defends Avante.

Now, the judicialization of the issue after Diaz’s complaint may force them to back down in La Laguna if the Justice finally agrees with him.
