The Catalan Daniel García de la Casa and the Lanzarote native Gabriela Cañibano (RCN Arrecife), lead the Las Teresitas International Regatta after the first day of regattas on a spectacular day for sailing in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where a hundred sailors gather in the return of the Optimist Class to the capital’s beach after 27 years after the last great event.
García de la Casa is the leader of the general classification, with a 1, a 5, and a 1; and she is 13 points ahead of the second classified and first from the Canary Islands, Gabriela Cañibano, who adds 13, 3 and 4, after the first day held yesterday.
Following Cañibano are Jaime Lang-Lenton (RCNGC), Sofía Hernández (RCNT) and Miguel Ángel Méndez (RCNGC), who complete the top 5 of the provisional classification.
Pedro Sotomayor (VC) is the first under 13 and seventh overall; while Marta Mansito (RCN Tenerife) was ranked first under 13 in the female category and eleventh in the general table.
The calendar has provided three other tests to be disputed during the morning of today and that will mean the end of the regatta.
The trophy ceremony will also be held with prizes for the under 16 and under 13 categories, both female and male.
