SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 30 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands has begun work on the urbanization of two plots, one in the municipality of El Paso and the other in Los Llanos de Aridane, in which a total of 121 prefabricated houses will be installed for those affected by the volcano on La Palma.

These works, for which the Canarian Housing Institute (ICAVI) allocates a total of 1,321,233 euros, will be carried out simultaneously with the installation of the modular wooden and container-type houses, which will speed up the planned execution times in three months.

The first plot, located in the El Jable area of Los Llanos de Aridane, has 12,631 square meters in which the successful bidder Roturaciones Amargar SL, for an amount of 571,235 euros, will carry out the urbanization and conditioning works of the land. The 85 prefabricated container-type homes will be installed on this plot, acquired by Icavi at the request of the Los Llanos City Council.

These houses will be arranged along a central road, located on both sides and with areas where pedestrians have priority over vehicles and where they can only circulate if they are neighbors’ vehicles or public service. For the complete urbanization, sewage, sidewalks, car parks, water and electricity supplies, as well as the fire and telecommunications network, will be carried out within a period of three and a half months.

The second plot is located in El Paso and the works have been awarded to Domingo Jesús Martín García for an amount of 749,980 euros. These tasks will allow the corresponding urbanization of the area for the installation of 36 modular wooden houses. In it, a single road is projected with priority for the residents of the area and in which each house will have a parking space. The works will focus on sewage, water and electricity supply, public lighting or the installation of the fire and telecommunications network with an execution period of three months.

In both actions, the Ministry has opted for the choice of companies from Isla Bonita itself to carry out the urbanization work, a decision that responds to the will expressed by the councilor Franquis himself to support the economic and social reactivation of La Palma, counting on the local companies to carry out some of the work planned on the island to deal with the emergency caused by the volcanic eruption.
