Buenavista, where Tenerife begins – The Day

Goodview of the North presented this Thursday, April 28, 2022, a new tourist brand that is a declaration of intent. This municipality of the Low Island wants to stop being the end of Tenerife, its last corner, to become the beginning of everything, like the Teno Massif itself, one of the first geological formations on the island. with the motto Where Tenerife beginsthis town wants to put itself at the center of the interest of visitors and claim its great natural, heritage and leisure attractions.

The Municipality of Buenavista del Norte Y Tenerife Tourism have worked hand in hand for more than two years to define a brand whose main logo is the view of the cliff of the Nun’s Risco and the road that leads to Teno Point, with green as the main color, as in the local flag and coat of arms. It also has three other logos and secondary colors: yellow, dedicated to nature, with the image of an endemic flower; red, for heritage, with the Punta de Teno lighthouse, and blue, which represents leisure with a traditional drum.

This commitment to repositioning itself on the tourist map was presented at the highest point of reference in the tourism sector in the town: the Hotel Melia Hacienda del Condewhich since February 12, 2022 is the first hotel in Spain of the brand The Meliá Collection, a select and small group of luxury hotels that Meliá has in Paris, Tanzania, London, Dubai and now also in Buenavista del Norte. This five-star grand luxury, located in a Canarian hacienda that is over 250 years old, is an establishment for adults only, focused on well-being, which houses 117 junior suites and suites distributed in different buildings and heights reminiscent of a town with the traditional architecture of Canary Islands.

The mayor of Buenavista del Norte participated in the presentation of the brand, Antonio Gonzalez Fortes (SSP); the councilor for Tourism of the municipality, Angeles Gonzalez (CC); the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Perezand the director of the Hotel Meliá Hacienda del Conde Collection, Maria Bohorquez. Among the public, businesspeople from the tourism sector, the media and public officials such as the mayor of the silos, Macarena Fuentes (CC)or the president of Low Island Consortium, Jose Gregorio Perez Medina (PSOE).

Maria Bohorquez He stressed that for the hotel, “as the economic engine of Isla Baja”, it has also been “a very important day” because they share, “completely and in an aligned manner”, the initiative presented, “which understands that another type of tourism is possible, because responsible and sustainable tourism in this area of the island is what is going to make the difference».

Punta de Teno, in Buenavista del Norte The day

Angeles Gonzalez He assured that “this new brand will mark a before and after in local tourism management, and will give even more power to the town as a destination within the island”. In his opinion, «Buenavista is one of those small details that allow you to start discovering Tenerife. We are not the end of the island and, although it may sound pretentious, we are a good place to start discovering the rest of the territory.

David Perez He valued the performance of the northern City Council and stressed that «an initiative like this is always welcome within Tenerife Tourism. You have to help and work together, so it is always welcome that a City Council takes a step forward to value its tourism product. He recalled that the Cabildo, through Tenerife Tourismwithdrew two years ago the contribution that the town councils made to the promotion of the island, «but we stipulated the formula of the co-marketing to help value some tourist asset, and that has been the formula used in this case, which highlights the authenticity of a place like Buenavista del Norte».

Anthony Gonzalez explained that “this brand, whose design was interrupted by the pandemic, aims to reverse that idea that Buenavista is on the edge of the island, in the end… With that idea, and taking into account that the Massif of Teno is one of the oldest areas of Tenerife, we wanted to turn it around and tell people who come to Buenavista that the journey begins here, that this is where Tenerife begins». From the beginning, the Buenavista City Council was clear that the name of Tenerife should be present in the local motto “because we have never had the intention of separating, but of promoting a common destiny”.

The great objective of this brand is, as the mayor insisted, “Ensure that this investment helps generate income and wealth for tourism companies” Township. “May all the investment in the design of this brand and its dissemination have a return and help those who make a great effort and work like little ants to get ahead,” he concluded.

At the end of the presentation, Macarena Fuentes (CC) intervened to congratulate the promoters of a design that “values everything that this corner of the Low Island has to offer to tourism and that, unfortunately, has been forgotten for a long time. We must recover all these values together and promote the Low Island much more ».

Jose Gregorio Perez Medina He also applauded “this initiative that, in some way, puts the entire region on the map of the island”, and announced that, after listening to the proposal of one of the businessmen participating in the meeting, he will study the possible implementation in the Low Island of a tourism stamp slowmore leisurely, calm and focused on calmly enjoying everything that the Northwest has to offer.

The justification for the brand details that “the main logo, whose image is the profile of the La Monja cliff, is a recognizable space that also symbolizes the beginning of this journey to which Goodview of the North you want to invite your visitors.” It is added that nature is represented by a unique plant, the amargosa (Vieraea laevigata), endemic to the Teno Rural Park. In this case, to evoke nature, “the color yellow has been chosen because it represents the sun, warmth and life.”

As for heritage, both tangible and intangible, we wanted to show with the old lighthouse of Punta de Teno and the color red, “which is associated with energy, power or prosperity. Adhering to a symbol such as the lighthouse, the association is built that heritage will continue to be a benchmark for this municipality. The color blue accompanies leisure, symbolized by a drum “present in the traditions of Buenavista del Norte”.

The new website will be one of the main tools of this new tourism brand, which “is not intended to be an inventory of what the municipality contains”, but rather a query tool capable of redirecting the user to the information or services they require and displaying everything essential in a visit to this municipality.

Together with the new brand image and the website, Buenavista has prepared an audiovisual that tries to show in less than two minutes why it is necessary to visit Goodview of the North. The protagonist of it starts her journey from Punta de Teno by bicycle and shows many of the possibilities of nature, heritage and leisure that can be done in the town. A video with nods to sustainability and also to integration.
