Tourism will investigate the plagiarized report of the refugee councilor from La Laguna:

The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands will investigate the report by the refugee councilor from La Laguna Alfredo Gómez in which he plagiarizes paragraphs from three university papers, from press reports published in The country or from the website of Idealistic.

The Vice-Ministry of Tourism, of which Teresa Berástegui (formerly of Ciudadanos) is the head, paid 16,000 euros for a minor contract with the company Despacho Jurídico Loyalty, of which Alfredo Gómez, also formerly of Ciudadanos, is the sole administrator, to prepare a work on the situation of vacation rentals in the Islands.

“If there is a hint of illegality, action will be taken without a doubt”, the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands has indicated to this newspaper, which ensures that it has requested the file from the contracting authority (the Vice-Ministry of Tourism) “to examine it”.

As reported last Tuesday by Mírame TV, Alfredo Gómez plagiarized in his 187-page report parts of three works by students at the University of La Laguna, copied almost the entirety of a news item from The countrytraced texts from I’s websitedealist and it was awarded the legal grounds of a judgment of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC), without even citing the sources.

“I did not know. If I’m honest, you’re reporting it to me. If there is something to eat for this, I eat it myself. This one who is here faces whatever it is”, said Gómez to questions from watch me tv. According to his statements, the report was prepared by an engineer, statisticians and a layout artist under his “coordination”. For this reason, he defends that he is the only one responsible and will face the possible consequences.
