The investment in the Highways area of the council in two improvement actions. One of them benefits the TF-21, the road that links La Orotava and Santa Úrsula, in which “an important rehabilitation of the pavement is carried out, which presents a significant deterioration with cracks, cracking of the asphalt, potholes and peeling that required immediate action”. This is reported by the first vice president and insular councilor of the area, Enrique Arriaga, who recalls that the work will also be carried out on what is known as Avenida Nelson Mandela (TF-211).

Arriaga explains that the works on the Santa Úrsula-La Orotava highway include the improvement and conditioning of the drainage, the fitting out of new pedestrian paths and zebra crossings, as well as the improvement of several bus stops, thus improving accessibility and safety for pedestrians.

In a visit to the area yesterday, he indicated that in a few weeks the main accesses to La Orotava will be finished.

The Cabildo Highways area is also carrying out other actions in the northern part of the island, such as the relief lane for access to La Vera, which will make it possible to avoid the roundabout, speed up traffic in the area and reduce traffic jams during peak hours. A road through which an average of 50,000 vehicles travel per day.

The insular director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, explains that, as in all the actions that are being carried out in the area, in these also Part of the pavement that is removed is reused. In this way, there is less consumption of aggregates and contributes to eco-sustainability.

These are rehabilitation works on island roads with significant traffic densities, which had not been intervened for decades and were in poor condition as a result of the passage of time and inclement weather, says the Cabildo.
