The Olympic team prepares to compete until the last point in Tenerife

The defending champions of the Iberdrola League have seen how the defense of the title achieved last season has become enormously complicated after losing the first two games of the best-of-five final series, against a superlative Haris, who has clearly dominated the game thanks to his extraordinary block-defense. If the team led by Pascual Saurín wants to add its second League title, it will have to equal the feat of the lagoons in Taco next week (Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 p.m.). A victory for Tenerife would make them champions.

Complicated moment without a doubt for the Olympicthat after not yielding any match at the Insular Sports Center throughout the regular season, has been overcome in the first two games of the final of the play off by a Haris that has been far superior to the Gran Canariaalthough the coach of the yellow team considers that what remains for his team is “go to Tenerife with the intention of competing and that no matter what has to happen, without being defeatist”, emphasizing that the team “must play with the aim of competing until the last point”, although the Murcian points out that in order to overcome this final series, the team must be prepared forclimb everest“, Given the the two defeats have had a psychological influence on their players.

In the same line the Cuban receiver is shown Sulian Matienzofor whom “nothing has been lost yet“and remind the fans that they still have”three chancesalthough we know that at home it will be even more difficult, but we are not going to give up and we will fight until the last point”.

Both protagonists recognize that The key to the two defeats has been in the lack of response from Gran Canaria against the great defense-blocking of Tenerife which in Saurín’s opinion has made his players desperate during most of the two games played so far.

Without time to change too many things at a technical and tactical level, the work of the coaching staff will focus this week on the psychological recovery of the olimpilocassince as Sulián Matienzo acknowledged, “after losing two games at home spirits are a bit low“, affirming the Cuban that it is important to have “a strong mentality, because it is what should be required of a professional athlete and be prepared both to win and to lose“.

The growth during the season of the Haris is highlighted by Pascual Saurin who openly acknowledges that in his opinion “a manifest superiority of the Haris has been seen in the two games we’ve played so far”, adding that the people from Tenerife “have just had a spectacular season”, suggesting that “if they relax thinking that they have already won the title, they will surely suffer just as we have done.” For his part, Sulián considers that Haris “has shown to have a great level”, highlighting that it is a team that has been able to “improve a lot in every way from last season to the current one” , but that they are “ready to face the challenge that awaits us in Tenerife“.
