The Tacoronte City Hall announces the forthcoming launch of an ambitious plan for paving and improving sidewalks in 92 streets of the northern municipality. An intervention that has begun with the asphalting of the section of the road that runs between the area of Las Toscas and Calvario Streetat its confluence with the core of Saint Catherine.
The Department of Works and services of the Tacoronte Town Hall is carrying out these days the asphalt work of the two lanes of Las Toscas street, “a very important project due to the number of users that this road has”, according to the councilor responsible for the area, Antonio Gil Goya. This initial action has a budget of 150,000 euros, “in which asphalt paving and repair of deteriorated sidewalks have been incorporated as improvements.”
Gil Goya estimates that these first works will conclude within about 15 days, “after the first actions focused on the sidewalks, which, like the current road, were quite deteriorated, since they had not been repaired for at least two decades.” For the councilman, “as it hosts a traffic that is of a regional nature, since users of Tacoronte, El Sauzal and other surrounding townsa comprehensive action like the one we are carrying out was already necessary, with which we not only intend to improve the wearing course, but also to be an incentive for users, businesses and local residents, in terms of improving their quality of life.”
The mayor of Tacoronte, Jose Daniel Diaz Armas (NC)added that with the current action «we have also contributed an improvement for pedestrian mobility on the sidewalks, so that not only vehicles have a leading role, but we also make the area comfortable for pedestrians on their walks and in daily use».
For the mayor, “this project also entails a change of image for the accesses to the municipality through its lower area, and which in turn, is a work that represents the beginning of a great asphalting plan that we are going to carry out in the 92 streets of the municipality». In his opinion, “this plan is going to mean a change in the dynamics of pedestrians and traffic, since we are going to have safer roads with greater speed control. Sidewalks will be more comfortable and adapted for the shared use of people with reduced mobility and other types of users.
For the mayor of Tacoronte«with this action it is not simply a matter of paving streets, but of assuming the commitment to address an integral treatment of the roads of the municipality, in which the improvements are focused on the adequacy of sidewalks and parking lotsalso favoring that the vehicle is used less in favor of pedestrian traffic.
