VALVERDE (THE IRON), 22 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, visited the Hospital Insular Nuestra Señora de Los Reyes in Valverde on Friday to learn about the works being carried out to house the first Magnetic Resonance device to be installed on the island of El Hierro and which includes within the Investment Plan for High Technology Equipment (INVEAT).

During the visit, the minister was accompanied by the director of the El Hierro Health Area, Tomás Morales, the manager of El Hierro Health Services, Mirkadeiny Cabrera, and by the hospital team.

Darias assured that this plan “is going to mean a before and after” in health care in Spain and in El Hierro the investment will be almost 800,000 euros, but more important than the investment, being relevant, is the advance in the quality of life of patients from El Hierro because thanks to this incorporation, patients from El Hierro will not have to travel to Tenerife to be able to carry out this diagnostic test”.

The INVEAT Plan involves an investment throughout Spain of almost 795 million euros from the Next Generation Funds included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

Thus, throughout the country 574 teams will be renewed and 277 will be expanded to add a total of 851.

In addition, it is expected that the installation of this MRI will mean a reduction in the waiting lists for the areas of Tenerife and El Hierro of around 50% to carry out this diagnostic test.

“Yesterday we were on the island of Tenerife and we explained that, in the Canary Islands, the INVEAT Plan will involve the acquisition of 40 high-tech equipment for all health areas of the archipelago, including linear accelerators and magnetic resonance imaging for diagnosis and treatment of pathologies such as cancer,” he commented.

These facilities represent an investment of 38.5 million euros that will be financed through the plan.

EL HIERRO, ISLAND PROMOTING HEALTH

The Minister of Health also visited the Cabildo de El Hierro where she held a meeting with its president, Alpidio Armas, and with the mayors of the three municipalities of El Hierro where the affiliation of the municipalities of El Hierro to two important health strategies was consolidated: the Declaration of Paris and the Health Promotion Strategy.

The municipal representatives who will promote these initiatives were present at the meeting, the mayor of Valverde, Antonio Chinea; the mayor of La Frontera, Pedro Acosta and the second deputy mayor of El Pilar, Ithaisa Quintero.

“In addition to the visit to the hospital, today is an important day in El Hierro because today the affiliation of the three municipalities of El Hierro to the Declaration of Paris is also being promoted, making El Hierro the first Fast-Track island in Europe. , something that constitutes a gesture of great relevance to make visible the commitment of the region against HIV and stimulate action in other islands”, explained the minister.

This signing will be accompanied by adherence to the Local Implementation of the Health Promotion Strategy to reinforce the local commitment of the island of El Hierro with the large health projects of the state government.

The Fast-Track cities strategy is a strategy created by IAPAC — International Association of Providers of AIDS Care– that promotes local action in the response to HIV, with the aim of achieving the goal of ending HIV as a health problem public in 2030.

The strategy, in its latest update, includes response objectives for STIs, Viral Hepatitis and Tuberculosis, in line with international strategies and also with the guidance of the Ministry, which created a new division that brings together the response to all these communicable diseases.

With the incorporation of the three municipalities of El Hierro, there are already 21 cities in Spain that have signed the Paris Declaration.

The signing of the declaration commits local entities to the objectives of the Strategy.

This adherence will be accompanied by adherence to the Implementation
Local of the Health Promotion Strategy, to reinforce the local commitment of the island of El Hierro with the great health projects of the state Government.
