“We defend at all costs that infrastructure of public interest because it would enhance the traffic of people and goods, it would improve the connections with La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro, in addition to unblocking the collapse and saturation suffered by the port of Los Cristianos,” he lists . He believes that the construction of Fonsalía is “perfectly compatible” with making the ports of Granadilla and Los Cristianos profitable, and considers it a mistake to speak of an “environmental attack” when, on the contrary, it would reduce diesel consumption and CO2 emissions by reducing inter-island routes and their cost.

In addition, the federation claims that if the port is built in Guía de Isora “it would further reduce” the risks of collision with the protected cetaceans in the area “if the same detection and precautionary measures are taken” that are adopted with the traffic of the port of Los Cristianos, “as it is contemplated without any doubt”. In any case, Villalobos points out, “we accept and support that construction is carried out at all times with the timely and necessary study of its impact on marine life and protected habitats.”

Femete also offers to participate in meetings between different administrations and entities to “unlock” the project, as the majority representative of the business sector of naval repairs and recreational boating.
