SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 21 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, has admitted this Thursday that there will be “oscillations” of cases by Covid-19 during the pandemic and has assessed that the increase in positives and hospitalizations in Asturias shows that the surveillance system “works”.
In a press conference on the occasion of a visit to the Hospital de La Candelaria, he commented that it is monitored “day by day” and a possible worsening of the evolution, as has occurred in Asturias, was “foreseeable” and is part of the “scenario planned” in the new stage.
For this reason, it has supported Asturias once again increasing diagnostic tests for suspected cases of Covid-19 and those who live with it, following the criteria of the “new surveillance” phase.
In these first two days without mandatory use of the mask indoors, he has highlighted the “responsible and exemplary behavior” of citizens in the face of a “demanded measure”, underlining that in any case, it is maintained in vulnerable spaces such as health centers, residences of elderly, pharmacies or public transport.
The minister is convinced of the “power of the vaccine” to deal with the pandemic, which is why she has urged “to continue vaccinating, vaccinating and vaccinating” despite the fact that 92% of the population already has the complete guideline — more than 39 million people– figures not seen in the rest of European countries.
He pointed out that the removal of the mandatory mask was a “considered and thoughtful” measure and endorsed by scientific experts and the presentation of alerts, and it was especially “clear” in the school environment because it is the group of people where it has “least impact” The severity of the disease.
However, he has pointed out that the culture of personal care, the responsible use of the mask and the “consensus” with the autonomous communities must be maintained.
