In search of archaeological remains in a Tenerife ravine to declare it an Asset of Cultural Interest


The Cabildo de Tenerife has commissioned an archaeological study on the remains of the Barranco de Milán, in Tejina, in La Laguna, the results of which will determine the feasibility of initiating a file for its subsequent declaration, by the Government of the Canary Islands, as a Good of Cultural Interest with the category of archaeological zone

The works will last approximately three months, and have been awarded to the company Integral Management of Culture and Historical Heritage, whose technicians are going to carry out an exhaustive analysis in the place to know the current archaeological reality, the Cabildo specifies this Tuesday Tenerife.

Prospecting in the area will be carried out under the coordination of the Historical Heritage technical service of the Island Corporation.

From an archaeological point of view, there are references to the presence of numerous sites, mainly habitation caves and funerary caves in the ravine.

The prospecting work will be extended to the entire area of ​​the ravine, covering its entire channel, between the roundabout of the TF-13, at the height of the Manisero pond and its mouth, including those steepest and most difficult to access sectors, in order to exhaustively specify the number of existing sites, their state of conservation and their archaeological and scientific potential.

In addition to the studies carried out on the ground, drone flight exploration will also be added to capture photos and videos, especially in the steepest areas of the terrain.
