The National Police have arrested a 28-year-old in Tenerife for pretending to be the victim of a robbery and theft and collecting 5,000 euros from various insurance companies. A second robbery is also being investigated that, the Police suspect, could be invented.
The detainee had reported to the Police, both in Madrid and Tenerife, the theft of three high-end mobile phones.
In one of the cases he retracted after three days saying that he had found it, when he had already paid the insurance and collected the compensation, which he did not return to the insurer.
In total, the amount paid by the insurers (one of the mobiles had it insured in two companies) amounts to more than 5,000 euros. In addition, he pawned for 250 euros one of the mobiles whose alleged theft he had denounced.
The location of this telephone triggered the rest of the proceedings carried out and led to the demonstration of all the facts attributed to the detainee.
The national policemen, in view of the result of their investigation, proceeded to locate and arrest the young man in the capital of Tenerife, charging him with the crimes of simulation of crime and fraud.
