SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 20 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa), a company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, transported 902,982 passengers last Easter, 6.21% more than in the same period of 2019, before the health pandemic.

The vice president of the Cabildo, Minister of Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, describes the data as very positive, which shows that the island has recovered, at least in large part, the mobility prior to the health pandemic.

“From the Cabildo and the public transport operators, the mobility of the inhabitants and visitors is constantly analyzed to adapt the offer to the demand and thus contribute to a more sustainable island,” he says in a note.

The island director of Mobility, José Alberto León, recalls that the bus company reinforced a dozen lines, especially those directed to coastal areas, and offered free parking at the Santa Cruz and La Laguna interchanges for those who made use of the lines to Anaga.

“The goal was for public transport to become the first option for getting around the island,” he says.

The lines that recorded the greatest increases compared to the same period in 2019 were long-distance lines.

Those from the South transported 79,842 passengers, 36.81% more, while those going to the North added 64,082 passengers (+17.41%).

Other important increases occurred in the interurban lines of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with 16.04%, which translates into 45,925 passengers transported.

Likewise, the routes of the South zone moved 232,990 travelers during Holy Week, 10.72% more.
