Cristi Cruz presents her book ‘Between water and soil’ at the Círculo


The Circle of Friendship XII of January will host the presentation of the book ‘Between the water and the ground’, by Cristi Cruz Reyes. The event will take place at the Recreo headquarters on Ruiz de Padrón street in Santa Cruz, this coming Wednesday, April 20, starting at 7:30 p.m., with free admission.

The author will be present, as well as the writer and president of Acte Canarias (Canarian Cultural Association of Writers and Writers), Felicidad Batista, and Ángel Morales, director of Ediciones Aguere-Idea.

This book presents 15 stories that take place in different countries, cities and landscapes, while it is divided into five sections: Foundations, Leaks, Resistance, As a reminder and Losses and discoveries, being able to read independently the stories that make up each one of those parts.

‘Between water and soil’, which came out in 2021, was present for its theme of travel stories at the latest edition of the Periplo Festival, held last October in Puerto de la Cruz.

Cristi Cruz Reyes (San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife) has a degree in English Philology from the University of La Laguna, as well as a university specialist in English-Spanish translation, a Master’s in Audiovisual Translation: localization, subtitling and dubbing (University of Cádiz) and Master in Translation and New Technologies (UIMP).

For more than 25 years he taught English classes in secondary schools and official language schools, without forgetting the classes of Spanish as a Foreign Language in a Middle School in Houston, Texas, however, during four courses he interrupted teaching to perform consultancy and teacher training tasks in the field of reading and school libraries.

“I wrote this collection of stories a year before the pandemic paralyzed life on the planet. I sent them to the publisher at the beginning of March 2020. Everything else is history, ”says the author.

‘Between the water and the ground’ it is his third work, because they saw the light beforehand ‘In the center of the windwhich was translated into English (‘Inside the wind’), and ‘The owner of the ravine.
