SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Works and Infrastructures area of the City Council of La Laguna will begin this Tuesday the repair of one of the lanes of Pozo Cabildo street, in the section between Enrique Romeu Palazuelos and Isaac Albéniz, due to the damage caused by the roots of a tree of great size on the pavement.

The action, which will force traffic to be diverted along these last two routes during its execution, will allow the roadway to recover its good state of conservation while the drafting of the project for its widening and construction of sidewalks is finalized.

The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the responsible mayor, Josimar Hernández, recently visited the place to check the current state of the street, “which runs through a residential area, without sidewalks and through which a significant number of vehicles, especially when used as an entrance and exit to the city center by people who come from the Northeast,” explained the local councilor.

These conditions have led the Corporation to “prioritize” the adequacy of this road; first, because “it is essential to repair the deteriorated lane as soon as possible due to the risk it poses to citizens”, and, in a later phase, “because it is a municipal need to carry out more extensive works to reduce the danger, especially for pedestrians, by increasing the roadway and building sidewalks”.

Both Luis Yeray Gutiérrez and Josimar Hernández highlighted “the economic and human effort” that has been made since the beginning of the mandate to condition and improve the road network of La Laguna -with constant resurfacing, adaptation and accessibility actions- and point out that it will continue working “intensely” on that goal with the 18 million euros planned for the next four years.

Among the interventions contemplated in the medium term is precisely that of Pozo Cabildo, consisting of the widening and development of the pedestrian area, together with the channeling of the nearby ravine. The mayor reported that currently “the hiring for the drafting of the relevant project is being finalized.”

Parallel to this procedure, the councilman indicated that “it is urgent to act previously in the right lane, in the direction of San Benito, between Enrique Romeu Palazuelos and Isaac Albéniz streets, given the deterioration that this section presents.” The work to repair this part of the road will start this Tuesday and its duration “will depend on the condition and subsequent assessment of the damage caused by the roots”, although he is confident that “they will not last more than a week”.

Josimar Hernández thanks “in advance the collaboration of the citizens to continue improving the municipality with this type of work” and requests the “maximum precaution” while they are carried out.
