Easter leaves a hotel occupancy of 86% in Tenerife

Holy Week leaves a hotel occupancy of 86% in Tenerife. The hotel and non-hotel establishments associated with the Ashotel hotel association closed this Easter with positive data that raise the 86.25% the average occupancy on the island of Tenerife in the period from April 10 to 17.

According to provisional data from the survey carried out by the hotel management through its Tourism Competitiveness and Sustainability Observatory, this data supposes eight more points of the forecasts of the beginning of April for this holiday period.

In the case of the other islands of the province, The Palm improved its forecasts and closed last week at an average of 80.3%, after almost two very difficult years, not only due to the effects of the pandemic itself, but also due to the subsequent crisis caused by the volcanic eruption.

La Gomera also experienced a positive performance, with an average occupancy rate of 90.6%. Finally, The iron raised its occupancy to 83.1%, positive figures that have exceeded initial forecasts.

cautious optimism

Entrepreneurs in the sector analyze these data with satisfaction, but they prefer to be cautious when it comes to ensuring that tourism has already recovered pre-pandemic figures after these two harsh years of global crisis.

Ashotel recalls that the geopolitical scenario in Europe is complicated with the war in Ukraineas well as some of its direct effects, such as the rise in energy prices, despite the measures that the Government of Spain is implementing to mitigate it.

The employers emphasize that these data refer to a very short period of time (5-7 holidays) within a 30-day month, so the behavior of the issuing markets for the following months cannot be extrapolated.

In addition, he warns that after Easter the occupation traditionally falls until the summer season begins, at the end of June. For this reason, the eyes are now focused on how the summer is presented with the external elements that are negatively influencing the sector, such as the increase in the prices of supplies and the transport of people and goods, or the uncertainty generated by the war in Ukraine.

The desire to travel has materialized in many cases, but Ashotel considers that it is always necessary to act with the necessary caution in the face of the clouds that still circulate on the international scene.
