The Municipal Operational Coordination Center (Cecopal) has asked bathers this Friday to take extreme precautions in the presence of aguavivas (jellyfish) on at least three beaches in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Cecopal has indicated, through its official Twitter profile, that the presence of these marine animals has been detected in the bathing areas of Almáciga, Benijo and, to a lesser extent, in Roque de Las Bodegas.

Since yesterday, Thursday, the operators have traveled to these beaches in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to collect a lots of these jellyfish.

SECURITY OPERATION ON THE BEACHES OF SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE

The Citizen Security and Emergencies service of the Capital City Council has been carrying out an operation since yesterday beach safety of Santa Cruz, which has been maintained during the days Easter holidays.

This operation has the support of different bodies and security forces, although from the municipal sphere it is reinforced with the presence in the main coastal areas of the Local police, Civil Protection, technicians and volunteers; the Spanish Red Cross rescue service and the Natural Environment Unit. All of them ensure safety on the beaches of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The Councilor for Citizen Security and Emergencies, Evelyn Alonso, has highlighted in a statement that she also has the support of the National Police and the Civil Guard so that these dates “are characterized by tranquility and the enjoyment of all the people who will choose our coasts for this reunion with leisure and recreation, almost without restrictions, as we overcome this pandemic that has taken so much from us”.

Alonso explains that for the beaches in the northern area of Anaga, the presence of both police and lifeguards and health personnel has been reinforced, although once again the challenge is in the organization and proper functioning of traffic.
