Linares (CC) sees “impossible” to reach agreements and pacts with VOX: “We share absolutely nothing”

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The general secretary of the Canarian Coalition (CC) in Tenerife, Francisco Linares, calls it “impossible” that his formation can reach agreements and government pacts with VOX after the 2023 elections.

“We share absolutely nothing, we do not plan to sign any agreement or pact with a party that is antagonistic to our political position and the concept of the Canary Islands,” he said in an interview with Europa Press.

The also mayor of La Orotava acknowledges that it is an issue that “has not been raised within the organization” but makes it clear that both parties are “at the opposite end of the spectrum”, giving as an example that VOX does not believe in autonomy or in the differences between territories.

“They have precepts that we neither share nor believe, that model of Spain and the Canary Islands is not the one we have at all,” he says.

Along these lines, he indicates “they don’t even” know who is leading the party in Tenerife and the Canary Islands and “never” have spoken with anyone or had any contact, so he rules out the possibility of signing a tripartite agreement to govern the Cabildo de Tenerife. “It is not part of our keys or our scheme for the future,” he points out.

Linares maintains that CC is open to having pacts with all the political forces of the islands except with VOX because “today” they have no ideological affinity, and highlights that in Tenerife they have government pacts in Mayors with Sí se puede, Cs, PSOE and PP.

“Agreements are all possible,” he comments, while recalling how he co-governed with the PSOE for eight years in the Cabildo de Tenerife and almost two legislatures in the Government of the Canary Islands until “it did not go well due to internal disquisitions.”

Thus, he points out that in 2023 “there will be few absolute majorities” which will force “everyone” to sit down and talk and try to reach the best possible agreements.
