SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through Tenerife Tourism, has set up an office to monitor and analyze the island’s tourism indicators with the aim of having relevant information in real time to, among other things, optimize and automate services that result in an improvement in the competitiveness of the sector and in security, as well as in the traveler’s experience at the destination.

This office currently has information on air traffic through a connection with Aena, which allows it to compile destination and arrival statistics.

In addition, every 15 seconds images of the most visited beaches and tourist areas of the island are also projected on the screens to collect information on the number of visitors as well as the weather situation.

Currently there are 21 webcams that allow viewing the most attractive points and tourist traffic in the different regions of the insular geography.

The president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, together with the island director of Tourism, Laura Castro, the island director of Coordination and Support to the President, Aarón Afonso, and the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Pérez, visited the new office ‘Smart Control Center’ which has its headquarters in the central dependencies of Turismo de Tenerife in the capital’s fairgrounds.

There, the technical staff explained the services that this center incorporates, managed by the Technological Innovation area of the public company, the corporation reports in a note.

Pedro Martín highlighted the functionality with which the ‘Smart Control Center’ was launched “which has just begun to take off and over time will implement new services for managing data and key information for the agile execution of projects, with measurement of their scope, impact and scalability, which enhance the Tenerife destination”.

The island director of Tourism, Laura Castro, announced “that more indicators will be added that will allow the establishment of a roadmap in the execution of the projects in which work is being done to improve the tourist positioning of the island, adding more value to those who visit it and the citizens themselves”.
