SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife and the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife have drawn up the Guide for Exports and Imports from the Canary Islands with the aim of continuing to promote actions in favor of the internationalization of companies and promote rapprochement with international markets.

The island president, Pedro Martín, together with the CEO of Foreign Action, Liskel Álvarez, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Santiago Sesé, and the deputy delegate of the Government of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Jesús Javier Plata, have presented this new tool , which has been prepared by the Chamber’s Department of Foreign Trade and is financed by the Cabildo’s Foreign Action Area.

Pedro Martín pointed out in a note that the collaboration of different public and private entities “has been crucial” for its preparation and they want it to be a “useful instrument” for companies and those who want to relate to the territory.

“There are many actions that the Cabildo carries out with the Chamber in matters of foreign trade, employment and socioeconomic development and helping companies to expand outside our territory is an important part of this joint work,” he says.

Santiago Sesé stressed that “this guide aims to offer information, guarantees and security to companies when carrying out any export or import operation, especially taking into account the privileged position that the Canary Islands occupy for international trade, which represents a competitive advantage that you have to know how to take advantage of”.

More than half of the queries received by the Foreign Trade Department of the Chamber of Commerce are related to procedures for the export or import of goods, “which raised the need for this tool, which is presented with a simple and practical to use”.

The guide is also available in a digital edition and has been translated into English for foreign companies that want to establish themselves in Tenerife, clarified, for her part, the CEO of Foreign Action of the Cabildo, Liskel Álvarez.

Along these lines, he pointed out that the publication “constitutes the beginning of a training program that will be carried out through the Foreign Trade area of the chamber entity in coordination with the Cabildo, with which companies will be advised on the steps to give for their departure abroad”.

The sub-delegate of the Government in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Jesús Javier Plata Vera, also highlighted in his speech “that it is a good example of collaboration between institutions that benefits the island, companies and citizens”.

The presentation was attended by Pilar Merino, Territorial Director of Trade, Cristina García Castro, Deputy Director of the Territorial Directorate of Trade, Margarita Pena, Special Delegate of the State for the Tenerife Free Zone, and Pedro Machado, Director of Foreign Trade of the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, who presented the content of the guide.
