La Cuesta celebrated last night one of the most emotional and emblematic moments of Holy Week in La Laguna with the procession of the Encuentro, which returned to the streets of the neighborhood after two years without being able to be held due to the pandemic, given the emotion and faith of the neighbors.

Thus, the image of María Santísima de los Dolores went out in procession, around 8:00 p.m., from the parish of Nuestra Señora de La Paz y Unión, departing to the cry of the foreman of María Santísima de los Dolores: “To heaven with her, to the Sky of La Cuesta!”, while the Virgin sways from one side to the other. At the same time Our Father Jesús Cautivo before Caiaphas also came out from the parish of Our Lady of La Candelaria, both images walking through the streets of the neighborhood to meet in the Plaza de Trinidad Barreto, starring in a meeting full of feeling and devotion and that is reflected in the reverence of the Dolorosa to Jesus Captive before Caiaphas.

But La Laguna also hosted other processions last night, such as Las Tears de San Pedro – Nuestra Señora de los Dolores, from La Concepción, or El Señor atado a la Columna – Santísimo Cristo de los Remedios and Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, from the Cathedral.

In addition, the Cathedral gathered yesterday, Crismal Tuesday, a large group of priests from different parts of the diocese. During the celebration, presided over by Bishop Bernardo Álvarez, the priests renewed the promises they made on the day of their ordination. In his homily, the bishop stressed that it was a day to “congratulate ourselves on our fidelity and perseverance in faith and following the Lord. Congratulations because we are anointed by the Spirit and this is forever”.
