Beaches of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Las Teresitas Beach: Fran Pallero

The Citizen Security and Emergencies service of the Capital City Council will carry out, as of this Thursday, an operation of beach safety of Santa Cruz during the days Easter holidays.

This operation will have the support of different bodies and security forces, although from the municipal sphere it is reinforced with the presence in the main coastal areas of the Local police, Civil Protection, technicians and volunteers; the rescue service of the Spanish Red Cross and the Natural Environment Unit.

The Councilor for Citizen Security and Emergencies, Evelyn Alonso, has highlighted in a statement that there will also be the support of the National Police and the Civil Guard so that these dates “are characterized by tranquility and the enjoyment of all the people who will choose our coasts for this reunion with leisure and recreation, almost without restrictions, as we overcome this pandemic that has taken so much from us”.

Alonso explains that, for the beaches in the northern area of Anaga, the presence of both police and lifeguards and health personnel has been reinforced, although once again the challenge will be in the organization and proper functioning of traffic.

In this regard, it appeals to respect the existing signage and rationalize the use of private vehicles in that area, for which TITSA’s urban transport will be reinforced and, especially, everything related to improper parking or activities not permitted by law will be monitored. who make use of caravans in the surroundings of those beaches of Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz Beaches

The device will deal with the beaches of Las Teresitas, Las Gaviotas, Roque de Las Bodegas, Almáciga and Benijo, without ruling out interventions in other parts of the santacrucera coast where necessary.

For the control in the upper area of Anaga, another of the usual spaces in which the presence of people tends to increase, there will be the Natural Environment Unit, which will maintain patrols in the area coordinated from the CETRA-Cecopal capital.

It is also expected that in the mountain area, endowments from the Civil Protection volunteer group will collaborate.

One of the novelties of this year is that all the resources linked to the municipal device share a single communication channel to intervene in the event of any incident.

Although the restrictions on the capacity or level of occupation of the beaches have already declined, it has been decided to maintain the operation of the traffic lights that warn about the number of vehicles present in the parking lots of the Las Teresitas and Las Gaviotas beaches.

The table on the state of the beaches of Santa Cruz linked to the municipal website will also be maintained, where the state of the beaches, the indicative flags or if there is any type of limitation can be observed.

Regarding the device, the Local Police has already been providing a specific service on Las Teresitas beach since last weekend and each day there will be a minimum of five agents working based on the beach, specifically in the police stations located next to access number five of it.

The provision of resources and personnel of the Spanish Red Cross will also be reinforced at this point; Up to five lifeguards, a nurse, a TES, plus the coordinator and an ambulance crew will be present on the main beach in the capital.

The City Council reminds that the activity of the entertainment venues of Las Teresitas must cease at 9:00 p.m., although they have the fork of one more hour to collect and close the establishments.

For possible security warnings, in addition to verifying the status of the flags on the beach, Las Teresitas has a public address system near accesses 1, 5, 7 and 10.

Although, for the time being, the adapted bathroom service will not be working if it is possible to loan it to people or relatives who need the appropriate elements for it.

In Las Gaviotas there will once again be a health post with the presence of a lifeguard, although the evolution of traffic in the area will also be monitored in case it is necessary for the Local Police to close access for security reasons or to keep circulation open. .

The rescue service on the beaches of Roque de Las Bodegas, Almáciga and Benijo will be made up of up to seven lifeguards; a doctor, nurse, TES staff; an ambulance fixed in the area and with the support, if the circumstances of the sea allow it, of a boat with a skipper and one more lifeguard.

Support work is also planned by the Civil Protection Volunteer group on the beaches of Santa Cruz these days.
