The term begins to present the allegations to the offshore wind farm

The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife opens the period of public information on the administrative concession request submitted by the entity Parque Eólico Marino Granadilla SL for marine and terrestrial space assigned to the Port of Granadilla to install an offshore wind farm. Corporations, entities and individuals who consider themselves affected can examine the file and present as many allegations as they deem pertinent for 20 days, a period that began yesterday.

Parque Eólico Marino Granadilla, SL requested the occupation of 619,750 square meters of water surface, 5,300 square meters of seabed and 1,375 square meters of subsoil to be used for the installation of a 50 megawatt offshore wind farm in the Port of Granadilla, in front of the ariqueras towns of Las Maretas and Tajao.

It is the first major offshore wind farm project to be presented in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This is one of the first procedures of the initiative, since, as the Port Authority pointed out last week, “the procedure for the possible installation of the wind farm is still in its first phase, in which everything remains to be developed, from the drafting of the basic project to the processing of the environmental impact».

In a meeting held between fishermen, the municipal government, Puertos de Tenerife and the promoter company, the local rejection of this project was made clear, which the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo are unaware of, according to the patron of the Fishermen’s Guild, Juan Carlos García , and the councilor for the area, Davinia García, the deputy councilor for the Fight against Climate Change and Ecological Transition, Miguel Ángel Pérez; the Deputy Minister of the Primary Sector, Álvaro de la Bárcena; the general director of Fisheries, Carmelo Dorta, and the technician of the Organic Unit of Fisheries of the Cabildo, Agustín Espinosa.

The regional and insular interlocutors communicated “that they had no record, that they had not been notified of anything about the installation of the offshore wind farm, they had found out through the media and when we asked them for this meeting”, indicated the councillor. The manager of the Brotherhood, Francisco García, maintains that the initiative presented “is not adapted to the sector because it affects the coastline and the fishing platform.”
