Noelia Delgado, in March, when she was elected in Gran Canaria, Mrs. Canarias +40 years / DA

“It is not a claim or at least I do not intend it, but I do not understand why designers do not bet on women over thirty years of age to be candidates for carnival queen. Women between the ages of 30 and 50 are discriminated against, because either you are younger to aspire to be an adult queen or older to be a queen of the Third Age, ”points out Noelia Delgado Ortega, a sanmiguelera -although she has been living in San Miguel for ten years. Tacoronte– who at 40 years old aspires to be Carnival queen next year, although before that she can achieve the national and universal beauty titles for women over 30 years of age. On May 29, in Madrid, she aspires to be the most beautiful woman in Spain and on June 21 she will be in the Korean capital at Mrs. Universe +30, where she will compete with more than 90 beauties from all over the world. .

Noelia Delgado is a technician in Auxiliary Nursing Care at the HUC, profession that combines as a stylist. He has had a common-law partner for 12 years and has no children. She spent nine years as a soldier in the Army and for five years she has been a member of the dance group of the comparsa Los Danzarines Canarios, increasing from there her desire to be a carnival queen, because “Carnival is in my blood”.

Noelia is preparing these days for the two great contests that lie ahead. She will go to Madrid as Mrs.Canarias, but she will already be the Spanish representative in Korea, since she was chosen for it among the regional misses as there has been no national contest in the last two years due to the pandemic. “They suggested that I want to go and I am delighted, regardless of whether I win this year in Madrid or not,” says Noelia, who this year has already been chosen a few weeks ago as the most beautiful woman from Tenerife and the Canary Islands over 30 years old.

Noelia insists that “I have entered these contests because I always had this little thorn stuck since I was young and I have wondered why not now. Also, because I still have between eyebrows and eyebrows to be queen of the Carnival, although there is a veto for women over 30 years old, and I want to show that we are worth it, that women from 30 to 50 exist, and that we are so prepared for it like a 20-year-old girl,” she emphasizes.

As a native sanmiguelera, Noelia was received a few days ago by the mayor of San Miguel de Abona, Arturo González / DA

The miss sanmiguelera, who was recently received by the mayor of her municipality, Arturo González, acknowledges that in her family, which continues to reside in San Miguel de Abona, there is no history of beauty pageants, but “I have a beautiful family.” Although she considers that it is the designers who do not bet on thirtysomethings to carry their fantasies, Noelia has already dressed with the renowned designer Daniel Pagés, “who gave it to me at Mrs.Canarias, in addition to the clothing of the troupe that he designs Now I’m leaving Korea with a fantasy of Alexis Santana, but we haven’t talked about anything regarding the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival Gala”, when referring to next year, since registrations are already closed for this year’s unique Carnival , whose queen election gala is scheduled for June 10.

And she ends by remarking, “I hope that these competitions in Madrid and Korea will serve as a springboard for me to be able to get on the stage of the Gala of the Carnival Queen”, although she, always with a smile on her face, is satisfied “with all the experience that I am living and the possibility that it gives me to be able to travel and meet people”, affirms the ex-soldier, nurse, stylist, dancer and beauty queen, all of this with just turned 40 years old.
