SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 8 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Governing Council of the Cabildo de Tenerife, at the proposal of the Department of Education and Youth, has this week approved a competitive grant for six HEIs that teach artistic baccalaureate on the island of Tenerife in order to promote these studies and duly provide material centers to teach the different disciplines.

This aid has a financial item of 600,000 euros, which is added to the 100,000 with which last year the IES Ofra was endowed.

The Minister of Education and Youth, Concepción Rivero, during her visit to said educational center, points out that it is important that all art high school students in Tenerife have the same opportunities and can pursue their studies in well-endowed centers.

For this reason, he indicates in a note, “we have launched this subsidy, since these centers have, for the most part, very few means and resources, and they need to acquire various materials such as 3D printers and computer equipment for design, audiovisual equipment, lighting, paints, canvases, and an enormous diversity of tools and instruments for those who do not have a sufficient budget”.

In addition, remember that the different arts are essential for the culture of a society and its development and it is an important business niche that has yet to be promoted on the islands.

“We work to create a pool and promote the creative production of our young artists, and an example of this is the Merkarte programme, which has become a springboard and a first job opportunity for many of them,” he says.

The island’s director, Isabel Bello, explains that the Cabildo is “committed” and is committed to “investing in the talent” of all young people from Tenerife, giving them the opportunity to unfold their full potential.

“Tenerife has to bet on training without hesitation, and we work in this line from the Education and Youth area. This subsidy that we have just approved is just a small sample of the enormous work that is carried out by the island corporation,” he says.

In Tenerife, nearly 2,400 students study artistic education in the seven existing baccalaureate centers distributed throughout the island’s geography.

In these you can study dramatic art and performing arts, plastic arts and photography, audiovisual culture, fashion design, dance, instrumental music, singing or, for example, painting, among others.
