The Cabildo allocates 1.3 million in aid for the feeding of cattle in Tenerife

The Cabildo allocates 1.3 million in aid for feeding livestock Tenerife. The insular councilor of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Council of TenerifeJavier Parrilla, explains in a note that “the call has been advanced with the aim of reducing uncertainty in the sector and that farmers have the money as soon as possible”.

These aids are intended to defray part of the expenses derived from food sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, rabbits and poultry on the island. Thus, it is estimated that around 300 livestock farms will benefit from this subsidy, which aims to contribute to the maintenance of productivity and the economic recovery of agricultural holdings.

The counselor assures that it is about compensating the losses arising from the increase in the price of feed “and to palliate, as far as possible, the impact on the primary sector of the war in Ukraine“. In this way, he continues, “it contributes to curbing a reduction in livestock censuses on the island, offering greater possibilities for the recovery of the sector.”

Those who can apply for these aids natural or legal persons who are holders of livestock farms on the island that are officially registered in the Registry of Livestock Farms of the Canary Islands (REGA).

Farms must also be up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations, and have a livestock census of each species (sheep, goats, cattle, pigs, rabbits and poultry) greater than one Livestock Unit (UGM). ).

The submission deadline of applications will remain open for 20 business days starting this Thursday. This call is added to the one that was opened last Thursday for the livestock health defense groups (ADSG) of the island.

The objective of this subsidy, to which have been allocated €100,000is to improve the animal health of the cattle herd of Tenerife.

Other aid for 2022

The Cabildo will also allocate this year €200,000 to the artisan dairies; €45,000 to the support of traditional breeds and €300,000 to eliminate taxes on assistance for insemination, in order to reach an optimal number of heads of cattle on the island at the lowest possible cost.

The Canarian Drag Association will also receive €100,000 enough to feed the cattle and they will invest €824,775 in the maintenance of the Insular Slaughterhouse of Tenerife (MIT) with the aim of guaranteeing the quality and safety of the marketing and distribution of meat products.
