The Council of Tenerife begins the works to execute a relief lane attached to the branch, which starts from the TF-5 highway to the link of the La Villa Shopping Center, located in the municipality of La Orotava, which will allow more agile access to the neighboring city of Puerto de la Cruz. The project has an approximate execution period of three months.

The Island Councilor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, explains that “this new relief lane will allow direct transit for vehicles going to Puerto de La Cruz and this will make the link more fluid.” Likewise, he emphasizes the importance of this project to reduce queues during rush hours and avoid slowing down traffic while improving the safety of road users.

For his part, the insular director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, points out that during the three months that the work will last, it will be necessary to demolish elements such as curbs and sidewalks, dismantle and relocate the existing irrigation and public lighting services. At the same time, it will be necessary to generate the new platform on which the asphalt pavement will be executed.

Replacement of the elements in the TF-5

Once these works are finished, the affected elements such as fences, walls or gutters will be replaced and the road signage will be adapted.

The result of these works will be a new three and a half meter wide lane that will ease the intensity of traffic on the TF-5, which currently exceeds 50,000 vehicles per day.

To reduce the risks in the circulation of vehicles, signaling and beaconing operators will be used to increase safety and guarantee the fluidity of circulation.
