SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 5 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the area of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, has formalized the hiring of 210 people for one year in areas linked to the fight against climate change and the ecological transition.

The initiative is part of the Tenerife 2022 Ecological Transition Employment Project (PETE), co-financed by the Canary Islands Employment Service (SCE).

Minister Carmen Luz Baso explains in a note that this initiative results in an improvement in the employability of unemployed young people under the age of 30 who are registered as job seekers, as well as long-term unemployed, that is, those who have a minimum of 12 months registered in the employment office.

Thus, remember that this is the second edition of a project with which the selected people will be able to acquire professional experience to carry out various island projects linked to the circular economy, energy efficiency and the maintenance of biodiversity.

“This is a project promoted by the area of Employment and Socioeconomic Development but in which most of the areas of the Cabildo are involved, which over the coming months will have a reinforcement of personnel to carry out some tasks related with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals,” said the counselor.

Among the tasks to which these people will dedicate themselves are the management of protected natural spaces and the Natura 2000 Network and the dissemination of their values among the island’s society.

At the same time, activities directly related to waste management, water management, protection and maintenance of natural areas, fight against invasive species, and energy control, as well as prevention of ecological catastrophes and conservation of biodiversity will be carried out.

Other planned works are related to the fight against soil erosion and loss in the forestry field, the maintenance of infrastructures for public use, the restoration of degraded areas of protected natural spaces and the maintenance of infrastructures for fighting forest fires.

The bulk of the contracts (128) will be for agricultural, forestry and road work.

Together with them, 15 higher technicians (biology, agronomists, industrial engineering, journalists) have been given work; 9 medium technicians (Industrial Technical Engineering, Technical Architecture, Technical Engineering and Public Works); 6 masons; 19 foremen (forestry, agriculture, construction); 6 administrative assistants; 12 specialist technicians (graphic designers, in education and environmental control and in civil works projects); 4 guards and 11 drivers.

This project has a budget of 3,789,374 euros, of which 3,454,500.33 are provided by the Canarian Employment Service and 334,874 euros correspond to the Cabildo de Tenerife.
