The neighbors present a provisional solution for access to La Rambla

the neighborhood platform All with La Rambla presented this Friday, April 1, 2022, with the support of the mayor, Ezequiel Dominguez (PSOE)a technical proposal drawn up by road engineers that, in their opinion, would serve as a provisional solution to put an end to the black spot that the connection of the neighborhood of La Rambla with the TF-5. With this alternative, it would be achieved, in his view, a safe entrance and exit to La Rambla while the final project is planned and executed, which the Cabildo has proposed to be developed with a step at a different level. Residents in the area have given the go-ahead to the island proposal, but are not willing to wait in the current situation “until that final project is developed.”

The neighborhood proposal proposes a central waiting lane for tickets from Icod de los Vinos and from Santa Cruz, and also outputs in both directions. From the Cabildo it is not considered feasible to allow the turn towards Santa Cruz and they propose that this change of direction be carried out in the ramblero town, about 3 kilometers away.

Everyone’s press conference with La Rambla The day

Ezekiel Dominguez accompanied the neighbors who “have given voice to this demand that has lasted more than 40 years” and showed his support for an initiative that provides for a new central waiting lane, to access and exit, and two alternatives to improve visibility at that intersection : widen the track from The Realejos or move the entrance to the neighborhood to the west. The mayor insisted that both the city council and the neighbors support the definitive proposal for an underpass that the Cabildo has proposed, “which must start walking and, in the meantime, this transitional proposal should be applied».
