The Cabildo adds eleven new municipalities to the four already participating in the project of circular communities of composting and vermicomposting, the fast fertilizer technique from food.

The representatives of Arico, La Victoria, La Orotava, Icod, Vilaflor, Santa Úrsula, Garachico, Granadilla, Santiago del Teide, Guía de Isora and Puerto de la Cruz have held a meeting with the island councilor for Sustainable Development, Javier Rodríguez to outline the roadmap for new composting areas on the Island.

Success has accompanied the pilot project of the Circular Communities. It began in 19 composting and vermicomposting areas in collaboration with the ULL and the municipalities of La Laguna, Tacoronte, Tegueste and El Rosario.

The Cabildo will provide the material and technical means, as well as training and advice to municipal staff for its implementation before the end of the year. The town councils undertake to make the necessary public land available, as well as to encourage social participation.

Between the 200 participating families and the small contributors (school canteens, markets, urban gardens…) there are already almost 600 people in four municipalities that have contributed more than 6,000 kilos of organic matter.
