Air bookings to Tenerife for Easter increase

The reservations of international tourists to travel to Tenerife this Holy Week have increased by 7% in relation to 2019, while reservations from the national market have increased by 23% compared to the same period, according to data made public today Friday by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Fernando Valdés, and the Head of Market Intelligence at ForwardKeys, Juan Antonio Gómez.

According to these sources, Tenerife is the third Spanish destination with the highest number of reservations, for both national arrivals and international arrivals. In the case of national arrivals, Lanzarote (+78%) and Fuerteventura (+49%) occupy the first and second places. Ibiza (+34%) and Palma de Mallorca (+12%) do the same with international arrivals.

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Peter Martinhas valued these good forecasts and has highlighted “the intense work that has been carried out in the last two years to increase air connections and to bring in new companies that did not fly with Tenerife or had not done so for many years”.

Martín foresees “a good summer and a magnificent Easter” and trusts that in winter the data will be “even better”. “Everything will depend, however, on how the pandemic evolves and the war in ukrainebut if the situation stabilizes minimally, the ability of Tenerife to be once again the leader in the Canary Islands will be a fact”, he said.

Regarding the international air capacity scheduled by the airlines, Tenerife registers an increase of 11 percent in relation to 2019. The Canary archipelago is the second Spanish community with the highest recovery in international demand (around 97%) , only below the Balearic Islands, which grew by 14%.

Globally, Spain is among the five most recovered destinations in the world in terms of reception of international travelers refers, with a recovery of almost 90 percent of international tourism for this Holy Week of 2022.
