The reservations of international tourists to travel to Tenerife this Easter have increased by 7% in relation to 2019, while the reservations from the national market have increased by 23% compared to the same period, according to data made public today Friday. by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Fernando Valdés, and the head of Market Intelligence at ForwardKeys, Juan Antonio Gómez.
According to these sources, Tenerife is the third Spanish destination with the highest number of reservations, both for national arrivals and for international arrivals. In the case of national arrivals, Lanzarote (+78%) and Fuerteventura (+49%) occupy the first and second places. Ibiza (+34%) and Palma de Mallorca (+12%) do the same with international arrivals.
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, has valued these good forecasts and has highlighted “the intense work that has been carried out in the last two years to increase air connections and to bring new companies that did not fly with Tenerife or did They haven’t done it for many years.”
Martín foresees “a good summer and a magnificent Easter” and trusts that in winter the data will be “even better”. “Everything will depend, however, on how the pandemic and the war in Ukraine evolve, but if the situation stabilizes at a minimum, Tenerife’s ability to once again be a leader in the Canary Islands will be a fact,” he said.
Regarding the international air capacity scheduled by the airlines, Tenerife registers an increase of 11 percent in relation to 2019. The Canary archipelago is the second Spanish community with the highest recovery in international demand (around 97%) , only below the Balearic Islands, which grew by 14%.
At a global level, Spain is among the five most recovered destinations in the world in terms of receiving international travelers, with a recovery of almost 90 percent of international tourism for this Easter 2022.
