The PSOE of Arico requires the town hall that prevents the installation of wind farms in the municipality with unfavorable reports. The socialists urge the Consistory to comply with the plenary agreements May 2017, which established the need to analyze each of the projects related to renewable energies in the municipality. Remember that the Plenary has been reiterative in showing “the rejection of the implementation of wind farms», based on municipal technical reports, and has requested the development of an Energy Infrastructure Management Plan. This plenary agreement includes that the Corporation would transfer its disagreement regarding the implementation of wind and photovoltaic parks without planning and ordering their location.
The socialist ariqueros assure that, from the beginning of the legislature, the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands «has worked to reverse the entire chaotic situation that has occurred with the declaration of general interest of hundreds of wind and photovoltaic parks in the municipality by the Canary Coalition government, adding conditions, such as ownership of the land by the developer where it is planned to be installed.
The plenary session refused to include the socialist motion with this pronouncement on the agenda of the session held yesterday. In any case, the local government understands that “the PSOE has to make them look at it. It was the only party that abstained when the paralysis of the operation of the La Morra park was proposed, authorized by decree of the aforementioned ministry, “without counting on our City Council (…) and despite the existence of a ruling against those facilities wind turbines of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands».
The Socialists raise the proposal outside the agenda of the plenary session, which did not include it
In the opinion of Primero Arico, CC and PP, “the Socialist Group cannot come and teach anything, since this government of Arico has been the most implacable against wind farm projects.” The ruling team describes as “histrionic and surreal that one day after the Tajao Fishermen’s Association opposed the Port Authority’s offshore wind farm project, now the ariquero PSOE starts talking about the effects of wind farms in our municipality. The tripartite maintains that “from the beginning we are legally battling against projects of this type in defense of Arico’s interests, to the last consequences.”
The PSOE yesterday raised its position in the form of a motion “off the agenda”, not debated in the ordinary plenary session as the local government did not support its inclusion for debate and voting.
