Heads of the Ministry of Tourism and the Council of Tenerife have visited this Friday, together with representatives of the City Council of Adeje, the improvement works carried out in three pedestrian lanes in Costa Adeje, in which 884,238 euros have been invested.

79 percent has been financed by Turismo de Canarias and the remaining 21 percent by the island corporation, which has also been in charge of its execution, details the regional Executive in a statement.

The visit was attended by the general director of Tourist Infrastructure of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Miñarro; the insular director of Coordination and Support to the President of the Council of Tenerife, Aarón Afonso; and the insular councilor for Cooperation and Housing, Zebenzui Chinea, who were received by the councilors for Tourism, Adolfo Alonso; and of Mobility, Works and Services, Esther Rivero.

These works are part of the agreement reached between the Government of the Canary Islands and the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism to promote a Tourism Competitiveness Plan for the Canary Islands, which contemplated the grant of 1,650,000 euros to the Cabildo de Tenerife for the execution of various improvement actions through a direct grant awarded in 2018.

As explained by Fernando Miñarro, through its execution it has been possible to improve the tourist attraction of Costa Adeje, “beautifying and adapting the pedestrian areas” that give access to two of the main roads of its urban center, “in which a important part of your accommodation, leisure and restaurant offer“, he exposes.

The objective of this work is to promote pedestrian use, incorporating squares, gardens and furniture “to revitalize the urban corridor”, linking the access road to Adeje, Avenida España and Avenida Colón in a transversal route to promote sustainable mobility.

The insular director of Coordination and Support to the President assures that with this action, “necessary for the southern coast of the island”, this area of the municipality is optimized “in a friendly way” so that people can transit, “offering a new version closer to the visitors and the inhabitants of Adeje “, abounds.

The execution of the project has made it possible to solve several problems detected in the pedestrian corridors, such as steep slopes and poorly lit areas, as well as to enhance the spaces, through the adaptation of new garden areas and the improvement and replacement of public lighting for another of low consumption.

The work carried out also included the renovation of the pavement, the elevation and expansion of the pedestrian path and the canalization of the ravine, using a buried pipe with a diameter capable of collecting runoff.

Likewise, we proceeded to replace and complement the urban furniture, with the provision of wastebaskets, benches, bollards, mupis and telephone booths.

Finally, in coordination with the town hall and the neighboring owners, the facades of the plot that overlook the public space were restored, in addition to the sanitation, electricity, telecommunications, irrigation, fire network, rainwater canalization and drinking water service facilities. .
