SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 29. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife informs this Tuesday that Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa), adheres to the Women and Safe Transport Observatory, promoted by the Municipal Transport Company of Madrid (EMT).
The purpose of this organization is to promote participation in different informative and training actions to support equality for women in two aspects, as an employee and as a user in the field of transport and mobility.
The vice president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Minister of Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, highlights in a note that “the transport company is an example of the integration of women in the world of work” and adds that “it is clear both in the development of functions necessary for the provision of the transport service, such as when assuming positions of responsibility and management”.
The insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, explains that the transport company currently has 194 employees, which represents 11% of the workforce and “every year there are more women who present themselves to the public job announcements that put on the go Titsa.”
The Women and Safe Transport Observatory is proactive in initiatives in favor of women, listening to the protagonists, sharing good practices to ensure the safety of women as users and as employees, giving visibility to female workers in companies with the in order to create new benchmarks that make the field of transport attractive for women and girls or promoting initiatives that aim to reduce the current gap in employability, among other commitments.
