The La Orotava City Council reported this Friday that the Bollullo beach it will open to the public the first weekend of September.

Access to the beach was closed at the beginning of July due to the danger generated by a large rockfall, explains the northern town hall in a statement.

The closure was mandatory to carry out conditioning, sanitation and improvement works on the cliff, as well as guaranteeing the safety of users.

After the inspection by the technicians, the city council declared the emergency works and 48 hours later a company specialized in vertical works began to work in the area.

The consistory points out that the complications of the terrain and the state of the cliff have caused the work to drag on over time, extending more than the technicians had originally planned.

In addition to the initial clean-up and revision work on the entire cliff, the installation of protective nets has been added at various points to guarantee the safety of the access path to the beach.

For this reason, although at first it was thought to be able to reestablish the accesses in mid-August, “it was not possible due to the decision of the technicians to expand the area to be protected,” the note states.

In the technical meeting to monitor the works this week, the city council considers it feasible to be able to open to the public with guarantees in a few days, although the works will continue in the area for at least one more month.

The objective is to open the beach on the first weekend of September and from there it will remain open on weekends, and from Monday to Friday, from 3:00 p.m., since work will continue in the mornings on the Cliff.
