SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 25. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The state trading company Aguas de las Cuencas de España (Acuaes) has put out to tender this Friday for 48 million euros the collectors of the Arona-Este sanitation system by virtue of the agreement signed by the entity with the Cabildo de Tenerife.

The president, Pedro Martín, indicates in a note that these works, declared of general interest, will have an execution period of 27 months (21 for the execution of the works and 6 months for the start-up phase).

Martín points out that “the problem of discharges without adequate treatment on the island is a historical circumstance that the Cabildo has dealt with in the last three years”, and adds that “in this case, and within the great agreement signed with Acuaes, a response will be given to the problems that occur in San Miguel, Las Galletas or in Palm-Mar”, solving them with these pipelines to the new Montaña Reverón Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Arona.

The Councilor for Sustainable Development and Fight Against Climate Change of the Cabildo, Javier Rodríguez, stressed that “the processes of conveyance and purification of water on the island are having an unprecedented boost and this tender opens a new way to apply solutions to the waters waste from the south of the island that join other actions launched by the Insular Water Council”.

In addition to the network of collectors and outlets, the action includes the construction of a treatment plant for a population of 232,936 equivalent inhabitants for the time horizon of 2036, which will treat the wastewater from the eastern area of Arona, as well as from San Miguel de Abona and in the future those of Vilaflor, especially those produced in those towns with more than 2,000 inhabitants.

Once the works have been completed, it will be possible to solve the problem of direct discharges without adequate treatment that are produced through the submarine outfalls located in San Miguel, Las Galletas or Palm-Mar.

Likewise, the regeneration of treated wastewater is contemplated to allow its reuse for agricultural irrigation.

The Las Galletas and Cho Treatment and Pumping Stations (ETBAR) will transfer the discharges produced in the area located between the TF-1 motorway and the coast.

The new drives that come from Costa del Silencio, Guaza and the future Palm Mar will connect to them.

The area located to the north of the TF-1 will discharge directly into the new WWTP, with a total of 40 kilometers of pipes, in addition to the 13 kilometers of the land outfall of the WWTP Montaña Reverón.

Soon the works of the collectors and impulses corresponding to the municipal term of San Miguel will be put out to tender.

The works are expected to be co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund ERDF 2014-2020, within the Pluriregional Operational Program of Spain (POPE).
