The Isorano municipal government announces the announcement of the contest to incorporate nine officers to the Local Police staff. This is the second measure of this type applied by the Consistory during this mandate. In November 2020, three agents joined this body, starting their internship at the Canarian Security Academy. This week, through Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the municipal agreement was announced by which the provision of the nine new places is called via free opposition.
The Isorano Councilor for Security and Human Resources, José Rivero, maintains that “This is very good news, the result of the corporation’s effort to increase the Local Police workforce, after years of restrictions imposed on recruitment. The mayor explains that the reinforcement of personnel, as well as achieving a greater provision of material, is one of the main objectives of the government group. The goal is “for Guia de Isora to continue to be a safe municipality in all areas,” defends Rivero.
The term, until April 20
Until next April 20 is open the deadline to formalize the registration by all interested parties. To do this, they must provide the documentation and pay the fees through the electronic headquarters of the Isorano City Council or the General Electronic Registry of the General State Administration. The nine positions of agent of the Local Police belong to the scale of Special Administration, subscale of special services, class of Local Police, Group C, subgroup C1. They are accessed through the opposition system, in free shift, specifies the government group in a statement.
With all this, the Isora authorities advance in The objective is for this security body to have the necessary staffing and material. In fact, the current mandate began with a public demand from the Canary Coalition (CC) to improve “the working conditions of the Local Police force and, therefore, the security in the municipality.” The nationalists denounced that the staff is underfunded, then with 16 agents, far from the 40 effective that the ratio establishes for a municipality with 21,000 registered inhabitants, according to the majority group of the local opposition.
The three positions provided in November 2020 were the first to be newly incorporated in the last 11 years, although they corresponded to the call made in 2018. The municipality of Guía de Isora also has a barracks for the Civil Guard located in the coastal town of Playa San Juan, while the Meritorious facilities located in the urban area are in disuse.
It should be remembered that the Local Police of Guía de Isora opened its current facilities in June 2014, replacing facilities that had become obsolete. The units that this municipal service uses today, with more than 600 square meters in use and divided into 26 rooms, cost 193,005 euros, with an investment in furniture of 32,400 euros. The mayor at the time was Pedro Martín, current president of the Cabildo. They were erected on a municipal car park located on Los Chorros street, in the urban area.
